Flash!

In Popbitch this week they pointed the reader towards an amazing website. I recommend a visit (needs sound ideally):

Possibly the greatest use of flash on a
website ever. Don't, under any circumstances,
skip the intro. But you have to wait for the
site to load. That's when the guitar solo kicks in:

Thanks Popbitch!

For bringing this to my attention:

Very funny. Thanks also for this joke:
Old Jokes Home:
Q: How many musos does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
A: It's a pretty obscure number.You probably haven't heard of it.

Tonight I am DJing at the Dolly Disco @ The Alley Cafe. Come along if you like to hear music being played with gaps in between and lots of cries of "Oh no! I pressed the wrong button!"

I have been selecting some tunes ready for the occasion. They currently include:
Vampire Weekend (great live footage), Doris Day, Hot 8 Brass Band (also amazing live footage),Kenny Rogers (live footage from the 70's) and Beyonce, to name a random, yet representative selection.

DJing tonight, Library EP launch tomorrow. Fun weekend!

Popbitch tidbit

Love this story...

Vinyl destination - Monster Raving Loony lives on

Wild Willi Beckett was the Monster Raving Loony party's Mental Health spokesman until he died earlier this year. Willi was also lead singer in a strange rock band, The Psychosurgeons. Last weekend, his bandmates released a special limited edition green vinyl 7" single to friends and family, which had Willi's ashes pressed into the vinyl.

I should probably also let you know that the next Supernight is happening on the 23rd November and it is going to be a rock monster. Check back for more details in the next couple of days.

Metal fans be warned...

Hello

I often get great stories passed onto me by friends that subscribe to Popbitch.
Here's a belter...

It's not a good time to be a heavy metal fan in Iran.

Last week Iran's Minister of Culture, Mohamed Hosein Sarrar-Harandi, gave an interview to Spanish newspaper El Pais where he talked about his taste in pop music.

Mr Sarrar-Harandi said, "I know there are music genres, mostly heavy metal, that can provoke - combined with some hallucinogens - young people to jump out of the windows of cars while driving at high speed. I'm opposed to that kind of music."

WOW!
Fans of Megadeth pay heed, we don't want you doing a Brian Harvey now do we!
