Music-Go-Round

Hello All,

As I was making hundreds of resolutions in a hungover state on New Year's Day I came up with the idea of having a Music club amongst myself and friends so we can find new music and share mix CDs without too much work. Luckily Chris was also there and came up with both the idea of sharing the files online (rather than having to make and post CDs - hard work) AND with the brilliant name: The Music-Go-Round.

If you'd like to join in, here's how it will work:

1 - Each month someone will make a mix of some of their favourite songs at the moment - new stuff, old stuff, whatever you're enjoying. It can be anything between 5 - 20 tracks. Any less is daft, any more is greedy.

2 - They then drag & drop it into a shared DropBox file - if you want to take part Chris will send you a sign up email - and post a tracklisting up.

3 - We can all download the tracks onto our computers. New music, for free, all you have to do is share a few of your treasured tracks one month in return.

Let me know if you want to sign up and me and Chris will get sorting it out.

Love Bex

Do you think songs are too long and too boring?

The brilliant brains behind Eat Yr Hands and Death By TV/Pork Swords/Maury Povich The Band/Squirrels have just released a frighteningly awesome compilation.

Short Attention Span (released on World Rabies Day of course!) contains 47 tracks all under 60 seconds long. It's crammed with (midget) gems of juvenile junk rock, spazzed-out hardcore and just plain ol' bat crazy beat music.

The whole thing is free to download and features the likes of Vivian Girls, Pens and Best Fwends doing their utmost to smash the shit out of whatever's at hand. Every day I have a new favourite. Today it's Sissy Spacek's thrash anthem Gore Jet 2

Please download it so that ML INC do it all over again very soon.

Beating the January blues...

Bugger!

I typed out a cracking little post of all the brilliant things I'd looked at online to cheer myself up today. Then it just disappeared, damn damn damn!

Oh well, here's a quick list - without all the unfortunate jokes...

1) Hype Machine - I've been checking out loads of great new music. Current favourites include Battles, Pedro, and Euros Childs' new stuff.

2) My dear friend Abi pointed me in the direction of Zoe Irvine's Magnetic Migration Music. Zoe finds bits of tape in the street and sticks them together for exhibitionsl, installations and the like.

3) Amy Lee Harris wonderful knitted creations (available at the delightful Kathleen & Lily's shop) led me to find One Good Bumblebee, a wonderland of cute and kitschy creations.

All of which leads to an afternoon of twee, indie entertainment.

Happy New Year everyone!
